Bury Football Club recently teamed up with Bury College to re-vamp some of the concourse artwork in the Bury Times Family Stand.

Following a brief, to target our younger supporters, Club staff attended the College to cast their eye over the designs that the students had come up with.

Gemma Goodall, Retail and Junior Supporters Club manager, was very impressed by the talent on show from the students and said; “When we arrived at the College, we weren’t sure what to expect as we’d left the brief relatively open on purpose. We wanted the students to express themselves and they didn’t disappoint! Every design we looked at was of a very high standard and it was extremely difficult to choose the final two”.

The designs were whittled down to two – one for each of the differing age groups - and work on the new murals quickly followed.

One of the winning designs was a combination of 2 entries, from Alex Cope and Lawrie Yates and we asked them about their designs:

“I only found out about the project a day before club staff were due to arrive’, said Alex. The design took me approximately 4 hours to do and I had a think about what my 9-year-old brother would like. I’m very happy that my design was chosen and it’s fantastic to see the design come to fruition in a real-life situation”.

Lawrie, who came up with the Team Shakers logo, was equally as happy that his work had been chosen and told us; “I was doodling, trying to come up with a design that I liked”. He continued; “Once I was happy with the design, I had a play about with the colours and went through plenty of draft ideas before I got to one I was happy with. In total, it took me about a full day from start to finish to get to the finished article”.

Bury Football Club would like to thank Bury College and all the students who took the time to submit their ideas and those who helped with the artwork at the Club!
