Special visitors to the Shakers training ground
Pupils and Staff from Millwood School in Bury were special visitors to the Shakers Carrington training ground on Friday and it was a visit full of surprises for the youngsters.
Having recently won a local tournament, the school’s football team were due to collect a trophy for their success, however, a date and time for the awarding of the trophy had not been confirmed.
Unbeknown to the pupils, their Head teacher, Helen Chadwick, had arranged for the children to visit Carrington and, once there, they would receive their trophy from Shakers manager David Flitcroft.
As training for Mondays first team game with Bolton was about to get underway, Chris Brass led the pupils and staff onto the training ground, following a tour of the complex, where David Flitcroft was on hand to spring the surprise and awarded the school their trophy.
Speaking afterwards, Head teacher Helen Chadwick said:
“Thank you so much for a brilliant morning, meeting the players and having David present the trophy to my fab little football team. I was so proud of them. It’s one of the best moments I’ve had as a head teacher.
‘Any time you want one of them on loan, just let me know!
We have had an assembly this afternoon to celebrate their achievement and gave them all winners medals. I shall be watching the Bolton game from the South Stand on Monday with my family.”
Congratulations to everyone at Millwood School from everyone at Bury Football Club!
