Ajose joins Luke Gambin (Luton Town), Reeco Hackett-Fairchild (Charlton Athletic), Marcus Maddison (Peterborough United) and Jack Sowerby (Fleetwood Town) on the shortlist

Following the completion of Round Two of the Checkatrade Trophy, the shortlist for the Player of the Round competition has been revealed with Nicky Ajose making the final five.

You can vote for Nicky at and if he takes home the trophy, you could have the honour of presenting the award and winning tickets to the Checkatrade Trophy final. *

The striker made the difference in a tight 2-1 victory at Walsall. His two goals showcased his talents, scoring his first with a neatly taken first-time shot from the edge of the area, his second, a close-range header, secured the victory for the Shakers and booked their spot in the third round of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Round Two of the competition did not disappoint as 32 teams went head-to-head to reach the last 16 and get one step closer to a showpiece Wembley final.

The Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round shortlist is as follows:

This award has been set up by title sponsors Checkatrade and is open to all players taking part in this season’s Checkatrade Trophy. It provides fans with the opportunity to cast their vote for those deserving of the award after impressing for their respective Club.

An independent football expert selected the five worthy players that make up the shortlist and now supporters have the chance to vote for the final two via The two players with the most votes will then be considered by a judging panel consisting of representatives from the EFL before the overall winner is revealed.

Every fan who votes will be entered into a prize draw, with one lucky supporter getting the chance to present the Checkatrade Trophy Player of the Round award to the winning player and to also win tickets to the final of the competition at the National Stadium in April.

Fans have until 9am on Monday 18 December to register their vote.

Matches taking place from the second round of this season’s Checkatrade Trophy are being broadcast to fans in the UK and overseas via the EFL’s live streaming platform, iFollow.

It means that fans at home and abroad will be able to watch their team live on screen no matter where they are based, with all ties up until the conclusion of the Quarter-Finals scheduled to be streamed online. The Semi-Finals and Final will then be screened live on Sky Sports.
