Douglas Nyaupembe wins Player of the Month January 2017
Dougie is recognised in the Youth Department for his outstanding attitude and willingness to learn and improve. A first year scholar who sets an example to all future players that are about to begin the same journey. Dougie joined Bury FC as part of the Academy in the under 13’s after being scouted by Mark Litherland. This then lead to Dougie signing for a scholarship and playing for the Youth Team this season.
Since playing for Bury FC Youth, Dougie has started in every game, playing the most minutes, and put in a number of excellent performances. Over the Christmas period he was in every day, training with the First Team, in which he performed very well. Recently Dougie started in a reserve team fixture, which the starting 11 only contained 4 scholars, him being one, and completed another strong 90 minutes.
It’s not just Dougie’s effort on the training ground which is thought highly of. His jobs are always complete, and Carrington members of staff love his work ethic, as he’s always asking if they need help. In the absence of our current Youth Team captain Cameron McCulloch, Dougie has stepped in to fulfil that role, and is now Vice Captain upon Cameron’s Return.
Well done Dougie for your continued effort, willingness and positive attitude, we’re very proud of you.
Lead Sports Scientist
Dougie has an incredible attitude towards his work and an outstanding commitment to improving every day, trying to become the best he can. He is a privilege to work with; all the staff at the Football Club say he is a credit to the Youth Department and take pride in helping him improve. Dougie is always pushing for more, working on his technical ability everyday asking Mark Litherland and Ryan Kidd for extra training to improve his game, whilst working closely with myself to improve his physical side in the gym and diet. All this hard work and effort has reflected well on Dougie over the past month, as he has started to regularly train with the First Team, and has been involved in numerous reserve team games playing alongside First Team players. Dougie has now recently been named Captain for the Youth Team, as he has been setting a gleaming example to other lads. I would tell any young lad within the Youth/Academy, to follow in Dougie’s footsteps. Mirror his outstanding attitude and willingness to improve, and also have a focused ambition to become a professional footballer.
I am grateful to be rewarded Player of the Month .I would like to thank all of my coaches for helping me improve day by day, and my fellow scholars for their continuous encouragement. I would also like to personally thank Ryan Kidd and Chris Brass for giving me the opportunity to get involved with the First Team, and rewarding my hard work. By this, I hope my confidence keeps building and I can make myself into a better player.
Dougie will be accepting his Player of the Month award at this Saturday’s game against Swindon Town, 3pm.
