Bury Football Club are pleased to announce their first signing of 2017 as an undisclosed fee brings Macclesfield Town winger to Bury
Described as a talented winger, Jack Mackreth re-joined Macclesfield in the summer after leaving Tranmere Rovers.
Jack made 90 appearances in all competitions and became a real favourite amongst the Moss Rose faithful during a two-year spell with the Silkmen between 2012 and 2014.
His performances saw him attract interest from elsewhere and, in the summer of 2014, Jack made the switch to Grimsby Town. After having made almost 60 appearances in all competitions Jack left The Mariners in 2016 and returned to Tranmere Rovers, the side where he had started his career.
He made eight appearances for Rovers, the majority from the bench before leaving at the end of the 2015-16 campaign and making his return to the Silkmen.
Jack will take the squad number 37 after signing an 18-month contract, with an option for another year. His arrival is seen as one for the future and he will be involved in and around the first team in the coming weeks. The club are delighted that Jack has chosen Bury to further his career, after interest from a host of other clubs was received by Macclesfield for his signature.
