Head Coach confirms departure of young players
Head Coach Chris Brass has confirmed the departure of two young players from the club as both Rob Bourne and Liam Williams leave the Shakers.
Rob has come to the end of his short-term contract offered to him over the summer and, as such, has been released from Bury FC.
Speaking this morning, Brass said: "It was unfortunate for Rob with the pathways ahead of him and he didn’t really get a chance as there an abundance of midfielders at the club, although he did go out on loan for a spell.
"We had a chat with him and we’ve let him go, so that he can go out there and get some football played. He is a very good footballer and has a lot to offer but we could not give him enough game time. He just needs to go and play football and he will get back on track.”
Liam Williams has also left the club, following discussions with the coaching staff and the player. Following those talks it was decided that it was time for him to move on but it co-incides with Sheffield Wednesday currently trailing the former Youth skipper.
Brass continued: "Liam was put on the back burner a little while ago and he has been training with Sheffield Wednesday for a number of weeks and he could play for them, on Friday, in the FA Youth Cup if selected.
"He’s also had a tough time with a family bereavement recently as well as a couple of personal issues. He is a good talent and he is somebody that we have allowed to leave at the right time in his career. He does need to develop and Sheffield Wednesday will give him an extended period to do that. He is a good young player and there is some potential there for him to be another fantastic deal for this club.”
Bury Football Club would like to wish both Rob and Liam the very best in this next stage of their respective career’s.
