Bury-born Nicky Ajose has returned home to sign a season-long loan with the club from Charlton Athletic.
Nicky is no stranger to Gigg Lane having enjoyed two previous loan spells with the Shakers in 2010 and 2013.
A product of the Manchester United Academy, Nicky initially joined Bury on loan from Old Trafford and quickly became a fans favourite at Gigg Lane, scoring 13 goals in 28 appearances as the Shakers sealed Promotion to League One.
He left Old Trafford to join Peterborough United in 2011 but spent time away from London Road on loan spells at Scunthorpe United, Chesterfield, Crawley Town and Swindon Town before coming back to Bury in 2013.
He secured a move to Leeds United in 2015 before joining Swindon Town the following year.
Nicky enjoyed a successful season for Swindon Town, scoring 25 goals from 40 appearances during the 2015/16 season, his success at Swindon brought a move to Charlton Athletic 12 months later, and it is from Charlton that Nicky comes to Bury.
Nicky has arrived in Marbella to link up with the first team squad in order for him to train with the lads before returning to Manchester in time for Sundays game with Huddersfield Town
In total, Nicky has made 256 appearances – scoring 83 goals.
Speaking from the Shakers Marbella Training Camp, manager Lee Clark said:
“We’ve managed to get the lad on the plane this evening and will join us for training whilst here in Marbella because I want him to get a couple of sessions. I think the fans will be extremely happy when they see Nicky Ajose coming in to replace James Vaughan.
He’s a local lad, he’s played for the club before and he has been a goal scorer all his career, he has a terrific goalscoring record and comes back to us with a great pedigree and I believe he will fit in with the group really well."
