Bury FC The Trust, the Clubs’ official charity, with whom both grassroots clubs had a close affiliation with already, have brokered a partnership which will see the new club sitting within the charities’ structure and re-named as Bury FC Boys & Girls. With 600 children and up to 50 teams across boys, girls and disability provision forming the club as well as countless managers, volunteers, parents and committee members Bury FC Boys & Girls will make a significant contribution to the borough and it’s children.
Mike Morris, The Trust CEO commented:
‘Grassroots sits very much at the heart of The Trust’s social objectives in engaging young people no matter what gender, race or ability they represent. Grassroots football is open to all and works to enhance a young person’s ability to socialise positively, exercise effectively, develop transferable skills such as communication, teamwork and sportsmanship. All qualities and lessons which in the long term develop healthy, employable, social and responsible citizens of the future.
Martin Rigby, Boys Chairman commented:
‘This is a great opportunity for the community of Bury and our Club. All our members will benefit from the support of The Trust, and this can only strengthen existing foundations already in place across both boys and girls teams. It is exciting times ahead as well as a challenge that the boy’s committee and I are very much relishing. The future is bright for all present and new players’
Diana Golding, Girls Chairwoman commented:
‘This coming together ensures we can maintain high quality and sustainable provision for female football in Bury. We will continue to grow so that we can provide more opportunities for girls and ladies of all levels to play football, and ensure equality for all is at the heart of our ethos in line with The Trust’s social objectives.
