Goalkeeper Joe Murphy signs a 12-month contract with Bury FC
After many weeks of discussions between the club, Joe Murphy and his representatives, we are delighted to announce that the popular Dublin born 'keeper, has put pen to paper on a 12-month contract with Bury Football Club.
Since arriving on loan, from Championship side Huddersfield Town, at the end of the January transfer window, Eire international 'keeper Joe has made 11 appearances for the club, keeping an incredible seven clean sheets during that time.
The 35-year-old stopper will leave Huddersfield once his contract with the Terriers expires on June 30th. His new deal with the Shakers will commence from 1st July.
A player with vast experience behind him, Joe has made over 530 appearances for nine clubs since his career began back in 1998 with Tranmere Rovers. Since leaving Prenton Park, Joe has gone onto play for such clubs as West Bromwich Albion, Walsall, Sunderland, Scunthorpe United, Coventry City and Huddersfield Town.
Speaking on Thursday, manager Lee Clark said: “I am delighted to have secured the services of Joe Murphy for next season on a permanent basis. He has been an impressive performer since I arrived at the club in February and, coupled with his attitude, desire and winning mentality, it was important we secured his services as soon as possible.
