Under 16 player Callum Hulme is name Player of the Month April 2017.
Callum Hulme accepted his scholarship for Bury FC in February 2017 after being with Manchester City Football Club from 8 years of age. Callum was introduced to Ryan Kidd through a phone call. Ryan was quick to invite him in and offer him an opportunity to train with the Under 18’s.
Hulme’s first impressions to the Youth Team coaching staff stood him in good stead, with a positive attitude to his work, along with his all-round playing ability.
It wasn’t long before Callum got called over the fence to start training with the First Team. Continuing to impress the coaching staff with his hard work, and technical skills, he soon found himself making his first, First Team bench appearance for one of the biggest derby games of the season, away at Bolton Wanderers (Tuesday 18th April).
He was then part of the squad that defeated Northampton Town 3-0 at Gigg Lane, with his second bench appearance of the season (Saturday 22nd April 2017).
As well as breaking into the First Team, when with the Youth Team Callum was making regular starts and putting in excellent performances.
We’re looking forward to having Callum in with us full time next season, and are excited to see him develop as an Under 18’s player.
Ryan Kidd: Youth Team Manager
This month has seen current Under 16 player Callum Hulme break into the First Team squad. Recently being named on the bench for the Bolton and Northampton fixtures, he was signed 3 months ago from Manchester City and was a regular starter in the Under 18's. Callum’s performances caught the eye of the First Team staff and soon was asked to train regularly with them, where his level of performance totally outshone his years. Callum is a terrific prospect and we are delighted with his development so far.
