Ahead of the 2017/2018 football season, we are looking into options for our official Club mascot!
Robbie the Bobby has been our mascot for 20 years, when he was introduced in 1997 following promotion to what is now known as the Championship after lifting the Second Division title. Robbie was named after local politician Sir Robert Peel – former Prime Minister and founder of the modern Police force.
As we head into a new season, the mascot is under consideration as Supporter Services Manager Ben Miles explains.
‘Our mascot is something that has been underused for a number of seasons now, and will play a much bigger part in some of our plans for next season and beyond’.
‘The very least we need to do is re-design the suit, as the current one is in a state of dis-repair. Couple that with the reputation that Robbie has from a chequered past, it makes sense to carry out an assessment of the options available to us. Whilst we do have our own ideas, we want to hear from the fans. Their opinions are very important to us and they may also come up with a brilliant idea that we haven’t thought about. We want their creative juices to flow!’.
To give us your opinions and add your own ideas, we have compiled a short 4-question survey to help us to gauge what the fans think.
