McFadzean Joins the Shakers

2 August 2018

Ryan Lowe has moved to bolster his squad with the addition of left-sided player Callum McFadzean.

The 24-year-old has signed a short-term contract until January 2019 and has been added to the squad with only days left before the season gets underway at home to Yeovil Town on Saturday.

The left-sided player has been with the Bury squad throughout pre-season, featuring in the games against Rangers, Huddersfield Town, Liverpool FC, Everton, Chester and Southport.

Callum has played a part in 88 games throughout his career so far, for teams including Sheffield United, Burton Albion and Kilmarnock.

Speaking to us after signing his contract, Callum said: 'I’m absolutely delighted to get it all done and dusted! I’ve been here since early on in pre-season, and I feel I really gelled with the lads. The Gaffer and the backroom staff are all going in the same direction I want to go; I want to kick-on in my career.

"I had a spell in the conference last season but feel I’ve earned my opportunity back in the Football League. I want to progress and go where the Club wants to go, and that’s up."

Manager Ryan Lowe added: 'I’m delighted to have signed Callum McFadzean. He’s a lad we’ve had in on trial all pre-season, and as you’re probably aware, he’s played well in a lot of the games.

"He’s more of a suited left-wing-back than a natural left-back but can play there. He’s got energy, he’s attacking, and he’s come in and shown us what he’s all about.

"He’s had a great career early on playing for Sheffield United and Burton Albion but found himself out of the League. He was playing for Guiseley last season, but this season he’s come to us and wants to get back in the League.

"He’s hungry to be a professional footballer again – albeit, he was semi-professional. I’m delighted to give him that opportunity to get back into full-time football because he deserves it. He’s one that’s come in the building on trial, and he’s deserved a contract, so I’m really happy."
