Bury Football Club are delighted to confirm that exciting midfielder Joe Adams has signed a two-and-a-half-year professional contract, tying him to the club until the end of the 2020/21 season.
The 17-year-old has been with the club's Academy from the Under-8 age range and has progressed through the age ranges, making his First Team debut as a 72nd minute substitute against Northampton Town in April.
Since then, Joe has gone on to appear a further four times for Ryan Lowe's side and played the full 90 minutes in the Checkatrade Trophy tie against Leicester City U21's.
Joe has also appeared twelve times for the Youth Team this season, contributing nine goals to a side that lies fourth in the North West Youth Alliance League and in the fourth round of the FA Youth Cup for a second consecutive season.
He has represented Wales numerous times at Under 17 and Under 19 level and was recently included in the 'LFE 11', which recognises individuals for their football and academic achievements.
Speaking after signing his contract, Joe told us: "It feels amazing; it's a privilege really. I've been at the club for a long time, so it's an honour really. I feel like I've worked hard for the past 8 years and it's all come to fruition now.
"I can't wait to get started!"
Manager Ryan Lowe told us of his confidence in Joe: "When I came back to the club as Development Coach, I knew that Joe Adams was one that would go on to be successful.
"I have complete faith that Joe that can go on to cement a first team place at this club in the coming seasons. He has already played his part in the League, FA Cup, and Checkatrade Trophy this season. I intend on continuing to play Joe at times over the course of the season, but it will be planned around when I feel it is right for both the team and Joe."
Sporting Director Lee Dykes added: ""A huge congratulations to Joe on signing his first professional contract. A big thank you to his family for supporting him throughout the years, making sure he attends training and games over a long period of time.
"It is not often a player starts with a club at 8 years of age and works his way through, all the way into the first team so it's a fantastic achievement. Another huge thank you to the Academy staff and more recently the First Team staff who have worked hard on developing Joe both as a player and as a person over the years.
"Finally, a big thank you to the Chairman and the new Board of Directors, who have chosen to hold off interest from other football clubs and back our vision of promoting our talented youth team players into our first team environment. Joe will be pitch side prior to the game today, so let's give him the applause he deserves for his commitment to our football club."
Joe will be presented to the supporters before today's home game against Tranmere Rovers!
