The First

A friendly clash with local side Heywood in 1887 at Gigg Lane. The game attracted 2,000 supporters and finished with a 5-4 victory for the Shakers. The goals came from a Hitchin hat-trick and two strikes from George Ross.


No Goals

Two games have finished goalless. A 1932 Division Two home game with Port Vale that attracted 7,394 supporters, and a 1938 away game at Southampton in Division Two. 13,944 visited the Dell that afternoon.


Best Home Win

Apart from the home friendly with Heywood in 1887, the next biggest win for Bury came in 1955 when Barnsley came to Gigg Lane for a Division Two clash. 12,927 supporters were on hand to witness a 3-0 victory, thanks to a Stan Pearson hat-trick (pictured at the top of the page).


Highest Attendance

37,000 supporters packed into Tottenham Hotspur's White Hart Lane to witness a 1924 Division One clash with the Shakers. The game finished 1-1 thanks to a John Ball goal.


The Last

The last game played on this day came in 2016 and a League One (tier 3) clash away at Bradford City. 18,012 supporters were on hand to witness a 1-1 draw, with Scott Burgess claiming the Bury goal.
