Shakers Scoop November Awards

7 December 2018

Ryan Lowe & Jay O'Shea named Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month and Player of the Month respectively.

Ryan Lowe and Jay O'Shea have become the first manager and player duo from Sky Bet League Two to lift both awards so far this season.

The Gaffer has been named the Sky Bet League Two Manager of the Month for November. He has built a side full of attacking intent and his payback was 14 goals and 10 points from four games, as they went through November unbeaten.

George Burley chairs the Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel.

He said: “Bury showed great faith in Ryan after relegation last season when they appointed him on a permanent basis following a spell as caretaker.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “Lowe’s Bury side are fast becoming one of the most exciting sides to watch in the whole EFL, with players throughout the team capable of entertaining the Shakers fans.

“They’ve already notched four or more goals on six separate occasions this season, with three of those coming in November league games.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “Ryan Lowe has done a really good job at Bury and they are well placed for a big promotion push.

“The Shakers won three and drew the other in November and are coming out really well on shot data and so we will be keeping them onside going forward.

“Sky Bet make us 11/2 for the league title and 8/15 for promotion.”

The Sky Bet Manager of the Month judging panel comprises former Ipswich Town manager George Burley, Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.

Bury midfielder Jay O’Shea was also named the Sky Bet League Two Player of the Month for November.

It was a month to savour for O’Shea, with four goals and two assists in the League as Bury scored for fun in November.

Jay used the spaces created by the likes of Danny Mayor to shoot at will. With two free-kicks, three of his goals came from outside the area.

O’Shea said: “I think I won the award two years ago, at Chesterfield, but it’s definitely the best run I’ve been on at Bury.

“I think confidence and the way the team is playing is what has allowed me to get so many opportunities in front of goal and the way the team’s been performing has allowed me to chip in with a few myself.”

Sky Sports’ EFL pundit Don Goodman said: “O’Shea, along with Bury, took a while to get going this season, but his return to goalscoring form has coincided with his team’s spurt up the table.

“Four League goals in November have kickstarted his season and there is no reason why he can’t push on and hit double figures for the first time in his professional career.”

Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies said: “Jay O’Shea has been in outstanding form for Bury with four goals and two assists in the League. Three of his goals were from outside the penalty area and two of those were free-kicks.

“With him in this kind of form Bury will be looking to mount a serious title challenge and we will be keeping them at 11/2.”

The judging panel for the Sky Bet Player of the Month comprises Sky Sports’ EFL expert Don Goodman; EFL Communications Director Mark Rowan, League Managers’ Association Director Olaf Dixon and Sky Bet EFL trader Ivor Davies.
