Former Shaker Steven Schumacher has returned to Bury as First Team Coach.
‘Schuey’ played for the Club from July 2010 until May 2013, when he left to join Fleetwood Town. He scored 25 goals over that period and was Captain of the side that won promotion from League Two in the 2010/2011 season.
Schumacher and Manager Ryan Lowe, were instrumental off the pitch as well as on it, after the departure of Alan Knill to Scunthorpe United in March 2011. The pair were more than able assistants to Richie Barker, who was given the task of getting Bury into the automatic promotion places; a feat that was successfully achieved by winning 6 matches in a row, the last of which saw Lowe curl home the winner to send the travelling Bury supporters into raptures.
More recently, Steven has been on the books of Southport, scoring an average of one goal every other game, with 5 goals from 10 appearances. He has also been undertaking the role of U11 Head Coach at Everton Football Club, where he had spent the first 13 years of his footballing career after joining the Toffees as a 7-year-old.
Steven will work closely with Ryan Lowe and Ryan Kidd as the Shakers look to escape the relegation zone and secure their place in League One for next season.
