Bury Football Club are pleased to announce that Gold Omotayo has signed for the club.
Gold has been on trial with the club for the past two weeks and has featured in the recent pre-season friendlies against Rangers and Huddersfield Town, which has been enough for Ryan Lowe to offer the 24-year-old striker a one-year deal.
The striker from Switzerland was recently at Whitehawk, where he scored 11 goals in 16 games.
We spoke to Ryan Lowe this afternoon who said: “I'm delighted to sign Gold. He's a big presence, and we feel that he's capable of cutting it in League Two.
“He's what we've been looking for, he has a great attitude and is always looking to improve his game. He's come over from Switzerland and shown us what he can do, and we believe in what he can offer.
“I'm really looking forward to working with him, and I'm sure he's going to cause problems for a few defenders.”
Chairman Stewart Day added: “We are delighted to get Gold on board. He's the type of player that we have been looking to recruit. Credit has to go to Lee Dykes for identifying Gold and bringing him to the club. Bringing in a Sporting Director like Lee is something that I have been looking to do for some time.
“Gold has come over from Switzerland, he's hungry to play, and he's got all of the attributes to become a fantastic player for us. He is an exciting player to see develop.
“He's hungry to succeed, and after meeting with him, I saw his enthusiasm to be successful at the club.
“In his short stint at Whitehawk he scored 11 goals in 16 games, so we feel he's a presence. We hope that Gold will be extremely successful for us scoring lots of goals; we're delighted to have him on board.”
