Cura Find Winning Formula in Bury FC Business Competition

Cura Accountancy were the winners of Bury Football Club’s innovative ‘Stand for a Grand’ competition, that took place on Thursday 21st June.

Over 30 businesses were in attendance to see Chairman, Stewart Day and Manager, Ryan Lowe draw out the prizes.  Everyone who entered won a prize, ranging from match sponsorship to the main prize that Cura secured.

Ecstatic business partners, Debbie Martin and Lisa Critchley, told our media team  “We are totally thrilled to win such a lucrative sponsorship package with our local football team.  After working in Manchester for years our strategy this year is to work with business closer to our homes in Bury so it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Cura Accountancy Stand will be visible to all home supporters, many of which will be business owners so a great way to promote our business locally”.

Debbie and Lisa - both from Bury - studied together, becoming qualified CIMA accountants in 2007.  They set up Cura Accounting in 2010 with offices in Manchester and this year in Holcombe Brook, Bury.

Cura Accounting are a modern-day accountancy firm offering part-time book-keepers, management accountants and financial controller support to SMEs in the North West.  Now a team of 12, Cura are concentrating on growing their Bury portfolio, hence the reason for entering the draw.

Debbie said “So often we see businesses employing one person to fulfil the role of both book-keeper and accountant, when in reality they require different skill sets. We found a gap in the market offering outsourced accounts functions which works wonderfully as we provide the expertise that growing SMEs need, often working out more cost effective than employing.  We usually work at our clients’ premises as part of their team, which not many traditional accountancy firms offer”.

Cura Accountings’ growth over the past 7 years has derived from referrals alone, putting their success down to offering a highly flexible, highly-skilled accountancy service which differentiates itself from traditional accountancy firms by having a hands-on approach.
 
Business Development Director, Matt Hanson commented “I am absolutely thrilled for Debbie and Lisa.  We have been talking to them for a number of months now and it’s a tremendous platform to promote their business.  They are a great advertisement for women in business and have built a strong portfolio of clients.  They have identified that working with their local football club will bring additional exposure and winning the competition is the icing on the cake.  I would also like to thank Dave Giffard from Forever Bury for making the introduction.  Supporters are invaluable with any referrals they can make, as this story illustrates”.

Cura will occupy the West Stand for the 2018/19 season and designs are already in place for their name to proudly be displayed ahead of the new campaign.
