For Fans' Friday this week, we caught up with Carl Peters, who lives in Israel, for his take on the Shakers...
Where do you support the Shakers from?
Have you always lived there?
No - I moved in October 2017
What was the reason for moving there?
To live in the sun and eat hummus daily.
What made you support Bury?
We’re from Bury so it’s our local team and it was the first football game we were ever taken to by our Dad.
Have you ever been to watch Bury?
A million times.
What was your first game watching Bury?
Bury v Huddersfield in April 1990 - 2-1 win - sat in the Main Stand on a wooden bench with my Dad telling me that David Lee was faster than Carl Lewis.
What was your last game watching Bury?
I came home at Christmas and went on my own to see us get battered by Peterborough away 0-3. We weren’t even that bad.
Favourite Bury player of all time?
There’s a few, but for sheer champagne football, I’d have to go (controversially) with Peter Sweeney. But on record, I would go to the end of the world for Ryan Lowe, Mark Carter, Nathan Cameron and Roger Stanislaus.
How do you keep up to date with what’s going on?
I sit in an Irish pub in Tel Aviv watching Bury on iFollow. Half the pub probably know our whole team by now and are familiar with the phrase ‘JUST GIVE IT TO ZELI!’
Thoughts on the season so far?
Dire. How could it have gone so wrong?! Big, terrible injuries and a seeming lack of passion in the first half has cost us. I have utter faith in Ryan Lowe for our future - the man is a legend.
