This week on Fans' Friday we caught up with Dave Clarke about his love for the Shakers...
Where do you support the Shakers from?
I support Bury from Heywood.
What made you support Bury?
I went to a Bury game with my Dad quite a few years ago as his mate couldn’t go so I ended up going too as there was room for me, since then I’ve just grown into supporting them. Sometimes it drives me mad ha ha
Have you ever been to watch Bury?
Yeah, I’ve been a season ticket holder every season since the 2009/2010 season and I go to most games home and away.
What was your first game watching Bury?
2001 at the Galpharm Stadium, 2-0 defeat to Huddersfield. I can’t remember much else about it I was 5 at the time!
What was your last game watching Bury?
Depending on when this goes out, the last home game, Peterborough, I’ve been to most games home and away this season, I’ve missed 4 games in all competitions, I think I’m a bad omen ha ha
Favourite Bury player of all time?
Ah, this is a tough one, Ryan Lowe I’d say, he’s one of the biggest Bury legends of my time supporting Bury, always gives 100% and is proving his worth now as a Manager with us. Although I’d say either Andy Bishop or David Worrall come a close 2nd and 3rd both fantastic players for us, especially Bish, he’s saved us on a few occasions.
Favourite moment being a Bury fan?
Tranmere away I’d say, I’ve never been through an emotional rollercoaster like that before! Unlike Chesterfield this was all or nothing, I still smile now thinking of watching the Morecambe goals popping up on my phone! Honourable mention to being 3-0 down vs Huddersfield to pull it back to 3-3 last kick of the game!
How do you keep up-to-date with what’s going on?
I go to as many home and away games as I can as well as my iFollow subscription, it’s really worth it, especially when some of my mates or my Dad can’t get to games, the highlights are all there.
Thoughts on the season so far?
It’s a weird one, I actually thought we’d finish in the top 5, every signing this summer brought a different level of excitement. I had not looked forward to a season like this for a long time but for whatever reason it’s just not clicked, whether that is players not turning up every game or bad tactics from the management staff it’s been a disaster of a season. Lowey looks to be turning it around with the help of his staff - there’s a different feel about the place, we could still go down but you have to be positive, I think we will survive just but that’s just my opinion. UTS!
