Each year the EFL Awards Evening takes place in April, where players from all Leagues get the chance to win a variety of different awards. This year sees Bury FC’s First Team Captain Stephen Dawson nominated for ‘Community Player of the year’.
Stephen has helped drive and promote all the work done within Bury FC - The Trust. He has volunteered to be the Disability and Sports Ambassador which has seen him visit multiple sessions within the community, answering questions, giving advice and happily posing for photos with fans. Stephen has shown great interest and enthusiasm in the sessions we deliver at the Trust and engages well with all participants from all backgrounds and age groups. Having the support of players on the projects the Trust delivers is a great asset and helps show that Bury FC is out in the community helping those in need and meeting lifelong fans.
Stephen said: “The work the Trust do is brilliant! They bring together the community and the Club. Supporting them is easy as their work is great!”
Specialist Projects Manager Donna Godwyn quoted, “The players bring another element to the work we deliver in the community. The smiles on the faces of the kids when we go into schools is brilliant! Stephen has been a great asset this year and is willing to get involved in anything he can. He’s a credit to the Club!”
The awards evening is on Sunday 15th April 2018 so keep your eyes peeled for results.
