Bury have played a total of 19 games on 16th November, with the first game a 2-0 defeat in the Lancashire League away at Rossendale in 1889.
Bury & Macclesfield Town met for the first time in 1895 in a friendly fixture played at Macclesfield. 637 supporters were on hand to see Harry Millar and Billy Barbour score two goals for the Shakers, but also five goals for the home side in a 2-5 defeat.
The first Football League fixture took place in 1901 when the Shakers visited Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough. Wednesday had only been based at the new stadium a year, after leaving their original ground at Bramall Lane. Albert Monks scored the Bury goal in a 4-1 defeat in front of 12,000 supporters.
1907 brought Newcastle United to Gigg Lane for a Division One game, a crowd of 18,000 watched as the Geordies snatched a 2-1 victory with Teddy Bullen scoring the Shakers' goal.
The first victory on this day came in the 1929/30 season, when the Shakers visited Boothferry Park and Hull City for a Second Division game. Just 5,000 supporters watched as goals from JR Smith (2) and Billy Chalmers secured a 3-1 win.
A 1954 friendly game with Rochdale at Gigg Lane attracted a crowd of just over 3,000 and brought a healthy 4-1 victory for the Shakers thanks to goals from Doug Clarke (3) and Peter Tilley (pictured challenging West Ham's Frank O'Farrell at the top of the page)
Chester City were the visitors in an FA Cup 1st Round game in 1985. 3,424 supporters watched as goals from Kevin Young and John Kerr would see Bury progress to meet Tranmere Rovers in the next round.
The last recorded game on this day took place in 2013 when Bury made the trip to the Memorial Stadium and a League Two game with Bristol Rovers. 5,534 supporters were on hand to see a 1-1 draw with Danny Hylton scoring the Bury goal.
