Heywood Central provide the opposition for the first game played on 22nd November, this game at Gigg Lane was a Lancashire League game in 1890 and brought a 5-2 victory for the Shakers in front of 7,000 supporters. The goals came from Cooper, Conway, Fielding, Ross and an own goal from Mackay.
Clapton Orient were the visitors in 1919 for a Second Division game. 6,000 supporters watched as the Shakers claimed a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Billy Lomas, Bill Ritchie and Fergus Aitken.
1930 brought Second Division action and a visit from Millwall to Gigg Lane. Goals from John Smith (2), Wally Amos and Robert Pugh, along with an own goal from Millwall's Pipe recorded a great 5-0 victory.
A 1952 trip to Hull City attracted a crowd of 22,562 supporters – with the vast majority of them leaving unhappy following a Bury 2-0 win, thanks to two goals from Walter Kelly.
Walsall were the visitors to Gigg Lane in 1969 for a Third Division game. Two goals apiece for Alf Arrowsmith and George Jones saw the Shakers claim both points in a 4-2 victory, with 3,560 supporters attending.
1975 saw the Shakers in FA Cup First Round action and a visit from Doncaster Rovers. A bumper crowd of 7,094 fans watched as Hughen Riley, George Hamstead and two goals from Andy Rowland (pictured below) saw Bury progress to a second-round tie with Spennymoor United thanks to a 4-2 victory.
Still in the FA Cup, Darlington hosted the Shakers in 1980 and a first round tie at Feethams. Joe Jakub and Mick Butler scored the Shakers' goals in a 2-0 victory.
2003 saw Northampton Town visiting Bury for a League Two game. Just 2,683 supporters were on hand to witness a single goal scored by Joe O'Neil, as the Shakers recorded a 1-0 victory.
2008 brought Gillingham to Gigg Lane for a League Two game. The Gills had been FA Cup winners at Gigg Lane just 14 days before, but the Shakers gained their revenge in some style with a fantastic 4-0 victory thanks to goals from Andy Bishop (2) and Glynn Hurst (2).
The last recorded game on this day took place in 2016, when the Shakers visited Sheffield United's Bramall Lane for a League One game. Bury's Jacob Mellis and Greg Leigh (pictured at the top of the page) were both shown red cards in the game, but it took the Blades until the very last minute of the game to claim a win, with a goal from former Shaker Ethan Ebanks-Landell with 19,002 supporters watching on.
