Christ Church Ainsworth Primary School received a special visit today after they won our mascot-naming competition.
In June, we contacted sixty-three primary schools in the Bury area, offering them the chance to enter a competition to name our brand-new mascot. Seven schools came back to us, with five of these further confirming a name they wanted to put forward for their nomination.
The names were then put forward to the supporters for a public vote, with Peeler coming out on top!
This morning, players Jordan Archer and Jamie Barjonas were joined by Peeler, as they paid a surprise visit to the school!
Jordan and Jamie attended a special assembly at the school, where they answered numerous questions from the children. They then presented the school with some goals and lightweight footballs – which were specially chosen as part of their personalised prize – along with a signed shirt.
Sam Hopkinson, who came up with the winning name, was also presented with a signed ball.
Every pupil from all of the schools that entered the competition have been invited to Saturday's game against Notts County. A free Family Ticket, which admits one child plus one adult, has been offered to each pupil via their school.
