Bury Football Club is delighted to get our Sole Trader Scheme off and running. The first person to sign up is MAK1 Gas, a local business owned and operated by Mike Kennedy.
Mike is no stranger to the local community. He served as a Police Officer for Greater Manchester Police for over 30 years, with many of those years based in Bury.
Since retiring, Mike has invested in retraining in the form of a Gas safe engineer and has now signed up to the Bury FC Sole Trader Scheme, which is designed for sole traders to promote their business via the club for just £250 plus VAT per annum.
The business receives a crowd facing advertising board, and once we have ten members there will be a monthly get together to form a small forum.
MAK1 Gas offer a local and reliable service for the residents of Bury. Mike will be offering to provide for the installation, service and repair of domestic gas installations. These include Boilers, Fires and Cookers.
Mike told us, "It's great to be involved with my local football club. I have to be careful with my advertising budget but feel it represents great value and I also hope to meet other like-minded sole traders to help improve my business along the way. I think it's a brilliant idea and I am excited at being part of it."
Matt Hanson, Bury FC Business Development Director, commented "Sole Traders play a vital role in the community, offering quality services for consumers and businesses alike. I wanted the club to make it affordable to attract such businesses and we will work hard with Mike and anyone who would like to join this small group.
"My ideal would be to have a dozen members from different trades who can meet on a monthly basis and enjoy learning from each other and hopefully pass on referrals too."
