For the second week of our Easter Camp, we had over 30 children every day and our coaches were very busy over the week. The children learned lots of new skills & tricks, enjoyed fun games, took part in football tournaments and three players from the Bury FC Women’s First Team came down to visit.
Here is what we got up to:
Day 1: We made it a nice and easy day, so the children could get to know each other. We delivered a variety of team-building exercises to help build friendships and to develop physical skills, such as coordination and movement. We finished the day off with a football tournament.
Day 2: We focused on specific football skills used in attacking. We spent the morning focusing on our crossing techniques through a variety of different drills. In the afternoon, we looked at different ways of scoring goals and finishing. We finished off by putting these into gameplay.
Day 3: We focused on short passing by undertaking fun games and activities such as Wall Ball.
Day 4: We focused on defending and played games such as On Guard, and put this into a game situation with Capture the Flag.
Day 5: We focused on dribbling with the ball. We finished the day with a visit from the Women’s First Team players, who came down to visit us. They joined in and took part in a Q&A session with the kids on camp.
The children seemed to really enjoy having the ladies down & the ladies loved being there!
We hope our next camp will be as successful as this latest Easter camp and we’re looking forward to our next one in May.
