Bury Football Club are delighted to announce that exciting young midfielder Callum Hulme has signed his first professional contract.
The 18-year-old arrived at Bury from Manchester City in February 2017 on a 2-year scholarship, after being with the Cityzens since the age of 8.
Over that time, he has played an integral part in the Youth Team's successes, which include reaching the FA Youth Cup Fifth Round for the first time in 52 years last season; a feat that has already been repeated this season.
Callum can play anywhere across the middle of midfield, either in an attacking or defensive role, or in a more traditional number 8 position.
He has already experienced first team football, after a substitute appearance in the League Two game against Grimsby Town in September. That was followed up by further appearances in the Checkatrade Trophy games against Leicester City U21's, Fleetwood Town and Oxford United – including playing the full 90 minutes in the game with Leicester City U21's.
Speaking after Callum signed his new deal, Manager Ryan Lowe said: "Callum is someone I have rated from the day I first saw him play. I gave him the Captain's armband in the U23's when I was Development Coach 18 months ago and I also gave him his professional debut this season.
"I rate Callum highly and believe he has a big future, so I am pleased that we have tied him down to a professional contract!"
Callum will be presented with a framed shirt before kick-off at this afternoon's game; please join us in giving Callum your appreciation this afternoon!
