Bury Football Club can confirm the signing of Scott Wharton on a season-long loan deal from Blackburn Rovers.
The 21-year-old defender progressed through the ranks at the Ewood Park outfit and made his First Team debut in the Championship match against Burton Albion on 20th August 2016.
He scored his first goal for the club on just his second appearance, firing home in Rovers' 4-3 victory over Crewe Alexandra in the EFL Cup.
Scott joined Cambridge United for the latter half of the 2016/17 season, before returning to his parent club at the end of his loan spell.
Two further loan spells followed; both at Lincoln City. He joined the Imps at the end of January 2018, making 15 appearances as they made the League Two play-offs.
He then re-joined Danny Cowley's side at the beginning of the current season, with his latest appearance coming in Saturday's 1-0 home victory in the derby game against Grimsby Town.
Manager Ryan Lowe said of his latest recruit: "I'm happy to have signed Scott on loan until end of the season. Scott is someone we were interested in at the start of season, but he opted to go back to Lincoln on loan where he was the season before.
"He is a good left-sided defender and gives us great depth in our squad down the left side, but most importantly he is a good lad who wants to be a part of what we're trying to do!"
After confirming the acquisition of Scott, Sporting Director Lee Dykes said: "We are delighted with the signing of Scott Wharton on loan from Blackburn Rovers.
"Scott is a player we have admired for some time and we feel his attributes complement both the group and the way we like to play. I would like to thank Blackburn Rovers for helping us make this transfer happen."
Scott will wear squad number 19 during his time with us.
