21-year-old Greg Leigh was snapped up by the Manchester City academy system in 2004 after being spotted playing for Manchester amateur side Sale United. Progress with City eventually saw him join Crewe Alexandra on a three-month loan period during the 2014-15 season. His impact for the Railwaymen was such that his loan deal was extended to a full season loan and he went onto make 42 appearances at Gresty Road. However, at the end of that season, he returned to the Etihad Stadium, only to find himself released and without a club.
Despite an offer from Crewe Alexandra, Greg went to Bradford City, initially on a trial basis, but impressed enough to be offered a 12-month deal. It was a deal that Greg quickly accepted. After making just nine appearances for the Bantams, Greg was offered a new deal at the end of the 2015-16 season but then Shakers manager David Flitcroft pounced and offered a deal which was quickly accepted and signed allowing him to move to Gigg Lane. Greg missed just one game for Bury last season, making an impressive 50 appearances in all competitions.
