Out On Loan

Tom Aldred

Date of birth

188 cm

Bolton-born Tom began his career as a scholar with Carlisle United, progressing through the ranks as Captain of the Cumbrians Youth team before signing his first pro deal with the club in December 2008. He was named as the Football League’s “Apprentice of the Year” for League One in 2009 as well as “Youth team Player of the Year”.

He moved to Workington, on loan, in August 2009 and stayed for three months earning high praise from many during his brief time there. He returned to Carlisle and made his first team debut soon after, but soon found himself on the move after rejecting a new deal at Brunton Park. Tom also represented Scotland at under-19 level during this time.

Aldred joined the then Championship side Watford in July 2010 though, despite two loan spells away from Vicarage Road, he would leave them without making a League appearance before joining Colchester United.  His stay in the South of England, however, proved to be an unsuccessful one and he returned to his native North West joining Accrington Stanley at the end of the January transfer window in 2013. He would go on to make 94 appearances for Stanley before returning to the Championship with Blackpool, where he would make 75 appearances and finished last season as the Seasiders “Player of the Season”.

Tom was offered a new deal by Blackpool at the end of last season but he has elected to accept the Shakers offer by signing a two-year deal with the club.
