Jamaican International winger Chris Humphrey joined the Shakers after putting pen to paper on a one-year deal ahead of pre-season. Chris’s career in the UK began in 2006 when, after playing just one game whilst on trial, he signed a short-term deal for Shrewsbury Town. That deal was later extended to include the following season at the Greenhous Meadow.
Following defeat in the Play-off final against Gillingham, Chris was offered a new deal but elected to take up an offer from Scottish Premier League side Motherwell, and made his debut for them in the Europa League two weeks later. Progress in Europe and domestic cup competitions came quickly for Chris and, despite defeat to Celtic is the Scottish Cup Final, Chris would go onto sign a contract extension soon after.
Chris gained further European experience in the Champions League qualifiers the season after for Motherwell and despite finishing 2nd and 3rd in the SPL during his two seasons at Fir Park, and qualification for Europe again, Chris decided to further his career in England and joined Preston North End in June 2013, signing a three-year deal for the Lilywhites.
International honours came for Chris whilst he was at Motherwell and he made his debut for Jamaica in a 1-0 defeat to Panama. He would go onto play 12 times for his national side. Another player with plenty of experience, Chris is just 4 games short of 400 appearances, scoring 20 goals along the way and has signed a 12-month deal, with an option for a further 12 months in the club’s favour.
