Danny Mayor

Date of birth

183 cm

A product of the Preston North End youth system, under the tutelage of former Shaker Jamie Hoyland, Danny progressed through the system at Deepdale and he went onto make over 70 appearances for the Lilywhites as well as spending time on loan at Tranmere Rovers. In July 2012, Danny signed for Sheffield Wednesday and, after making a handful of appearances for the Owls, another loan move came and he joined Southend United. He linked up with the Shakers on a season long loan at the start of 2013-14 season and quickly impressed with his pace, technical ability and his stunning array of long range goals.

At the end of that season at the Shakers “Player of the Year” awards night, chairman Stewart Day surprised all by announcing that the club had secured his services on a permanent three-year deal.  It was an announcement that instantly raised expectations for the promotion winning campaign. Energetic and with an eye for goal, Danny was also voted the Sky Bet League Two “Player of the Year” by his peers. Danny also made more appearances for the Shakers than any other player during the 2014-15 season.  Speculation about his future is always around with Danny Mayor but injury during the 2016-17 season curtailed his appearances to just 24 however, Danny will play a huge part in Lee Clark’s plans for the season.
